International Students, Strategic Alliances, International partnerships and Agreements

The Ahmadu Bello University School of Postgraduate Studies (SPGS) is a forward-looking and innovative School that welcomes students, strategic alliances, international partnerships, and agreements from all parts of the world.

The School has recognized the desirability of having various cultures of the world represented by international students and the potential contribution such students provide the general student body with regard to the understanding of the nations and cultures represented. It therefore takes great pride in how diverse the student populations is. Consequently, the absence of international students on our campuses would be a cause of great concern to us. This is why we always go the extra mile not only to attract but also to warmly welcome students from all parts of the world.

Ahmadu Bello University School of Postgraduate Studies (SPGS) therefore, will always admit those applicants from off the shores of our nation who are deemed highly qualified and whose enrollment can be readily accommodated within the resources of the specific graduate degree and diploma programmes to which admission is sought. Applicants whose first language is not English are also required to provide satisfactory evidence of English language proficiency, generally in the form of an IELTS or “Test of English as a Foreign Language” (TOEFL) or other comparable evidence of English proficiency accepted by Ahmadu Bello University, as set out in the General Admissions Requirements.

With respect to strategic alliances, collaborations and other forms of international partnerships, due consideration is usually given to international institutions that match or surpasses our University profile in terms of reputation, academic standing, and research output. The School has a full-pledged unit on Collaborations, Linkages and Outreach that handles such matters along with the University’s Directorate of Advancement (DUA) and the Directorate of Academic Planning and Monitoring (DAPM).
